Hello...

XOXO
Sally-Ann Makin
I am the founder of Potter’s House Preschool Limited which houses 5 nurseries (so far) – Potter’s House Preschool, Blossom and Bloom Day Nursery, Garden of Eden Preschool, Wonderland Day Nursery & TBC.
I hold many various different childcare-related qualifications, including child and adolescent counselling and play therapy.
For the past few years while building my company and making my nurseries busy and successful, I have spent much time with various families supporting them through different obstacles. I have worked with families guiding through tricky stages of child development such as poor eating habits, and sleep training and more complex concerns such as referrals to the child development centre. I have supported childcare practitioners with their qualifications through apprenticeships and advised other settings planning to open.
I also write articles for ABC Magazine that focus on various areas of child development. Somewhere in there, I do school runs, swimming lessons, and football training, but I’ll be honest: I rarely manage to cook a hearty meal, and my washing basket is NEVER empty.
On a personal level, I am a mum of 4, step-mum of 2 girls and am married to my very lovely mechanic. Between us, my husband and I have girls aged 16, 14 and 13 and boys 12 and 10 and Eden who is 2. Life is crazy and busy and flying by so quickly that I sometimes have to remind myself to stop and take it all in.
Raising children is hard, nobody ever really wants to admit that they find it hard because society is always showing us that everyone around us finds it a breeze. I’m yet to meet a parent who hasn’t googled something along the lines of ‘Why won’t my baby sleep’ or ‘Why is my toddler biting’. Or a parent who admits that the temptation to go and hide in a pantry (or the toilet) to cry for a minute or eat the snacks you’ve been hiding because you’re trying to promote fruit to your kids and want to set an example is all-encompassing.
But this is where I can help – with downloadable easy-to-follow guides with realistic and non-judgemental tips for all those tricky phases of child development to ease the ‘parent guilt’ and help you to enjoy those short years that they’re children.
